From the Latin edition of 1511 with Latin letterpress text on the verso. The frontispiece issued with the series of 19 woodcuts comprising The Life of the Virgin.

A clear and strong 16th century/lifetime impression.

In excellent condition Provenance: ex-collection Cabinet Brentano-Birckenstock (Johann Melchoir von Birckenstock [Austrian , 1738-1809], by descent to his only daughter, Antonia, and her husband Franz Brentano [Austrian, 1765-1844]) with their collection stamp [Lugt 345] in blue ink verso; also bearing another unidentified collection stamp, the letters 'RSH' in a triangle with a chalice and serpent , in blue ink on the verso.
